I never have large amounts to spend on gifts, so I try to make my gifts stand apart in another way - by being exactly what the recipient would most like, and sometimes even making gifts with my jewellery making supplies. For example, if someone has a collection of polar bear figurines, I'll search all over to find a new piece for their collection. If they love good cocoa, I'll buy a selection of unique kinds from a specialty food store. If they like paper dolls, I might even take a stab at making my own from templates I find online. It's not really what you spend that matters, but the reception the gift gets. I love the look on my friends' faces when they open something I selected especially for them. For that reason, I avoid gifts like gift cards - that shows no thought! A gift should be a reflection of the care you have for the receiver. |

My favorite fashion item is my light-blue jean jacket. Why? Because it gives me the rock look that I want if I am in the mood for that, or it gives me the country-girl look I want, if I'm in the mood for that. I can also wear my wooden bead necklaces with this jacket giving me an eclectic look. It is light blue in color, which goes with everything. If it is summer and I want just a small, added touch of warmth, I'll wear my jean jacket. It is not tight-fitting and uncomfortable, but rather big enough so that I can wear a t-shirt underneath. It also has patchy holes in it that make it look used and in-style, and is lightweight so that I can feel loose and toss it around while traveling. It is just the right length – hangs right at my waistline for style. I bought it at about half price for about $20 from Kohls. That is a price I can live with, and no matter how much jewelry I am wearing, my jean jacket goes with it all. |
